MAGIX Samplitude Pro X6 Suite Crack Download Most audio editing programs these days have gone cross-platform. I thought it would be a cold day in hell before Digital Performer made it to the PC and FL Studio made it to the Mac, yet both these things have happened. Berlin-based Magix is one of the lone holdouts. The long-running, PC-only Samplitude, now in its Pro X4 ($599 as tested) incarnation, soldiers on as the company’s excellent mid-priced digital audio workstation (DAW). More so than competing programs like the Editors’ Choice Pro Tools and Logic Pro X, and to its credit, Samplitude resembles a digital recording and mastering studio.

Setup and Installation

Contrary to what some articles around the web say, Samplitude is not new nor even relatively so. It began life in 1992 on the Commodore Amiga; the first Windows version appeared in 1995. Maybe that’s slightly newer than Digital Performer, Cubase, Pro Tools, and Logic (or at least Logic’s Notator roots on the Atari ST), all of which date to the 1980s. Still, Samplitude is a veteran in the space.

Samplitude comes in three versions: Pro X ($399), which includes 17 virtual instruments and all of the program’s main features; Pro X Suite ($599), which adds a complete copy of the excellent Sound Forge Pro 11 audio editor, DDP master support, five additional VSTs, the full 70GB sound set for the Independence instrument, and a cleaning and restoration suite; and Pro X365 ($12.49 per month to $14.99 per month), a subscription-based version that includes all of the above plus SpectraLayers Pro 5, a visual audio editor that offers comprehensive spectral analysis.

For this review, I tested Samplitude Pro X4 on a custom-built, high-end Core i7-6900K PC with eight physical cores, a Gigabyte GA-X99-Ultra Gaming motherboard, 16GB DDR4 RAM, and a 1TB Intel NVMe SSD. Pro X4 now supports CPUs with up to 32 cores, so this kind of power shouldn’t go to waste (and more on that later). Once you begin the install, you’ll be subject to a lengthy download process for all of the additional sounds. Sometimes this will be interrupted, such as for the InstallShield dialogs for Melodyne 4. Just keep an eye on it and don’t expect to get started with the actual program for at least several hours. This may have had something to do with the fact that I’m in New Jersey and the company is in Germany.

Recording, Editing, and UI

MAGIX Samplitude Pro X6 Suite Crack Samplitude’s maturity is finally reflected in the core feature set. Samplitude supports 999 tracks, 256 physical inputs and outputs, and 32-bit recording at up to 384kHz. Pro X has remedied some long-running omissions like time stretching and automation lanes and is full-on competitive today. The main UI looks a lot like what you’d expect to find, including well-delineated tracks with graphic representations of audio waveforms, a large transport area, and an inset area where you can bring up additional editing views. The mixer appears in a separate window (more on that later).

The key to understanding Samplitude and what makes it different from competing DAWs is the object editor. Each song you work on in Samplitude is stored in a Virtual Project file (VIP). Within a project, an object is just Magix’s name for a piece of audio, be it a region, an imported sample, or a loop. What’s different about objects is that you can perform operations on them that you would normally associate with the editing and mix process.

Instruments, Mixing, and Mastering

There’s finally a plug-in browser, with the program’s instruments sorted into categories. As with the automation lanes, a proper plug-in browser have been table stakes for quite some time with DAWs. Better late than never? Standout virtual instruments include the new Analog Synth 2, a do-it-all analog modeling synth with tons of presets, and Cinematic Soundscapes, which gives you the kinds of ethereal and evolving sounds you’d expect in Omnisphere or Alchemy. There are far too many instruments and patches to do DAW-by-DAW comparisons of what’s included with each. But suffice to say there’s plenty of useful material here to create finished productions from scratch right out of the box, even if they can’t usually replace dedicated third-party options.

Samplitude’s robust feature set continues in the Mixer view, with easy access to plug-ins and built-in parametric EQ. Clicking on plug-ins in the appropriate mixer channel turns them off and on. Right-clicking a plug-in shows you the real-time view of the current settings. That said, when viewing the EQ116 plug-in on the master track of a demo project, I saw choppy real-time spectrum analysis and doing this also slowed down the main mixer’s otherwise smooth meter response. Keeping the audio meters and playback smooth should be a given in a 2019 DAW running on a powerful PC with just a few tracks recorded.

An Audio Editor With ‘Tude

MAGIX Samplitude Pro X6 Suite Crack Despite the issues I found, there’s still a tremendous amount to like here. Samplitude Pro X4 is a decent if not vital upgrade for existing users (if you’re on X2 or earlier, it’s a much easier call than from X3). Samplitude Pro X4 is also a natural choice for anyone who wants to take on mastering work.

The trick for Magix will be hooking new shoppers upgrading from Magix Music Maker or otherwise buying their first pro-level DAW, as well as convincing long-time users of competing DAWs to switch to Samplitude. Getting Music Maker users on board is a pretty easy call, but the rest will prove tougher with such high-level competition. Samplitude’s score editor and wave-editing tools beat what you get with PreSonus Studio One 4, for example, but that program has a faster recording workflow and its own mastering suite. If you’re collaborating with a group of musicians using Logic or Live, you’re going to want the same program. There really isn’t enough here to get someone already in bed with Editors’ Choice Pro Tools or, say, even FL Studio to come over to the Samplitude camp.
